Mold can be found in and out of the home. It likes to grow on places such as wood, ceilings, paint, drywalls, carpets and paint. Mold can grow anywhere in the home so remember to check all areas thoroughly- that unused kitchen cabinet with its food remnants and dampness will be a perfect place for mold to form.
A portable air conditioner is a handy utensil to have. During the hot and humid weather it will help to stop mold growing in your home. The humidity of your property should be kept at approximately 30%-50% to be productive.
Similarly in the cold months you need a dehumidifier to help to control the mold growth. Again this needs to keep the humidity at 30%-50% to be effective. This way your home will still be at a comfortable temperature but will limit the chances of mold forming.
One of the commonest places to find mold is in the carpet. If you find that mold has settled on your carpet there are basically two options; you can replace the carpet with wooden flooring, or treat the carpet with baking soda. Leave the baking soda to sit on the carpet for a few hours and then vacuum off.
If the mold growth in your home is quite serious then it may be worth getting an assessor out to look at it. They can determine what type of mold it is and what the best possible treatment is. Although treating it yourself may seem easy, a serious case of mold could be hazardous to deal with. The company will likely use HEPA vacuums, wet vacuums and dry wipe materials to rid your home of the mold. Although it should rid your property of mold for good, there is the slight chance that any airborne mold spores may mean it will come back.
Ridding your home of mold should not be taken lightly due to the risks to health and the damage that it may cause to your home. If you find that you have mold it is best to treat it as soon as possible.
