Looking for a new way to decorate your new home? Or a way in which you can make your old home more fashionable and calming and functional? Do you want to redecorate your work space or office? A good way to do this is by following the decorating rules of Feng Shui.

Feng Shui originated in china, used by the ancient Chinese to decorate their homes, it was a method for ensuring that the placement of furniture and the inclusion of some other things would allow for their home to be harmonious. Now this ancient practice is being replicated by many, especially interior designers who have seen the benefits of creating a positive space for their clients. It is quite easy to learn the rules of Feng Shui as they are fairly simple to implement.

Feng Shui does not require an interior designer however, nor does it require someone special and trained to be implemented. There are easy ways in which you will be able to learn the Feng Shui decorating rules and can use them for yourself in the future, rather than having to pay money for someone to do this for you.

In Feng Shui the natural elements of the world are highly important. They can be used to steady your mind and to enhance certain areas of your mind. Three of the most popular and easy to implement elements are that of Water, Fire and Earth. Water keeps you balanced and focused, Fire motivates, and Earth encourages your natural creativity. When these are separate they are powerful elements, but combined they are even more so.

How can you put these elements together? Well there are simple ways for you to do so, easy little features that can be used in your decorating of your new area. You can put candles about the room if it is a living space, when these are lit, they will help to centre your mind, and motivate you to continue with your projects and do better work. Or you can harness the element of water.

You might think that having water in an office or a house can be a very messy affair and not something which you really wish to do. But there are many products on the market which mean that this is not the case. From buying yourself a small table top fountain, you can use this as a water feature. Or, it may be as simple as having a bowl of water with a few flowers floating in the top as a centre piece of a table.

Plants, and candles with earthy smells will be great for helping with your creativity. If you have a place such as a studio that you use to do creative work in, you should try to put it near a garden or have plants within it.

Finally, use colours to the same effect. For a room to motivate, use red, orange and yellow paints. For a room to calm, steady and soothe, try cooling blue colours which are said to keep the mind balanced, and for one which promotes creativity accents of green and brown are the colours for you.
